OMG, I can not believe that all the comic fans on here have totally forgotten.
Yes it is true, Supes is Jewish ( well sort of). Originally created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman can been totally seen representing the Jewish Experience in America. He comes from another planet, losing his previous Kryptonian identity to assimilate into the Midwest ( a very non Jewish place). Eventually, he regains his previously forgotten heritage to become the Savior of earth ( hmm sounds an awful lot like the story of another nice Jewish boy). You have to remember, Superman was created in 1938. The Nazi Party was in power with its anti semitic policies destroying Jewish culture throughout Europe. Unfortunately, many people at the time secretly agreed with them. In this context, it is very easy to see how Siegel and Shuster ( both Jewish) created the character as a hero to save the underdogs of the world ( much like Sampson in the old testament)
